A meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission has been set for Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Village Hall. The hot topic is the Proposed Ordinance Revision. Do we need a stronger historic ordinance what would give the Village Board legal power to prevent residents from tearing down their home, or should residents be allowed to to build their dream home on their property (within zoning parameters of course). Tell us what you think.
According to the Wednesday Journal www.riverforest.com , River Forest Village Board is reconsidering installing red light cameras in the Village at Harlem/Lake and North/Harlem. The Journal reports that Trustee Gibbs said that there is large number of accidents at each of these two intersections, thus it is important to review the red light camera proposal. What do you think? Is the Village Board doing this for safety or for quick cash like many of our neighboring towns?

Cost to educate one student in 2010 – $17, 443. Cost to educate one student in 2001 – $13,592. That is an increase of over 28%. Students who meet or exceed state standards in 2001 – 75%. Students who meet or exceed standards in 2010 – 69%. ???
One other number to rember: $83,772,525 (yes, that is millions). This is the amount of surplus tax dollars OPRF is sitting on at the end of their fiscal year 2010. OPRF’s surplus has increased 113% since 2006. It is time for OPRF to reduce our tax burden and lower their levy. What do you think?
